EU renews the DTLF board: stronger Italian presence in transport digitalisation
Joining the group are the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, Gruber Logistics, Codognotto Italia, AdSP of the Eastern Ligurian Sea, RAM, Mercitalia Logistics.
The European Commission has updated the composition of its board for the digitalization of transport, increasing the presence of Italian entities within the Digital Transport and Logistics Forum (DTLF). Among the renewed and new Italian participants in the DTLF are the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, Gruber Logistics, Codognotto Italia, the Eastern Ligurian Sea Port Authority, RAM - Rete Autostrade Mediterranee, and Mercitalia Logistics.
The DTLF is the primary advisory body of the Commission tasked with formulating digitalization policies in the logistics sector. It is a pivotal platform where future directives for the entire sector are outlined. Important regulations like the EFTI (Electronic Freight Transport Information) have originated here, establishing guidelines for the digital exchange of transport data among public authorities, with a planned future extension to private entities.
Through the Digital Transport and Logistics Forum, the groundwork for the implementation of the eCMR (electronic consignment note) is being laid alongside other innovations aimed at transforming logistics efficiency in Europe. The Commission is driving these developments to expedite the transition towards an increasingly digital and integrated logistics ecosystem, creating benefits for all stakeholders involved.
The selected group of companies and institutions is enhancing Italy's role in leading the digitalization of Europe's logistics sector, ensuring a strong and proactive voice in shaping the policies and guidelines of the future.
Gruber Logistics and Codognotto Italia are part of Subgroup 2 (Plug and Play) within the DTLF, focusing on developing specific solutions to create a harmonized and federated data sharing system. The goal is to enable all supply chain actors to connect and exchange information smoothly and securely, enhancing public-private cooperation. RAM - Rete Autostrade Mediterranee is working to improve the management and connection of Italian highway, maritime, and railway networks, while Mercitalia Logistics operates daily to promote a more sustainable and integrated European logistics network, with efficient first and last-mile connections. The Eastern Ligurian Sea Port Authority brings the perspective of Italian ports, contributing to improved integration with European transport networks through the digitalization of services offered to logistics operators and port communities.
With this renewal, the DTLF reaffirms its central role in the digital transformation of European logistics, deploying skills and resources to meet future challenges. The strengthened presence of Italian representatives underscores our country's commitment to making logistics more efficient, interconnected, and sustainable, contributing to building an increasingly competitive European transport system.
